Exterior decoration provides you with an opportunity to show your home at its very best. Sometimes it’s the attention to detail that gives your home that great impact.
When treating a fence or shed, it is advisable to protect all your plants using a polythene sheet to avoid damage or splashing during painting. A large synthetic brush should be used to apply the appropriate treatment to wood, using brush strokes along the grain. Similarly, to achieve a fast result, specially designed rollers and pads can be used for applying treatments. The caps of any fence posts can be soaked in the treatment before drying and nailing them back to the posts.
If you’re decorating exterior walls use a masonry brush (4” to 6” depending on the area to be covered) or a long pile masonry roller to apply paint evenly across the surface. The painting technique is the same as for emulsion paint, taking special care to work the paint into the uneven surface.
Garden furniture can be treated or painted using a good quality woodcare brush, with natural or synthetic bristles, as appropriate to the treatment type. |
